Gap/GapKids/BabyGap Robin here! So this woman comes in looking for girls’ clothing because she’s going to a birthday party and forgot to buy gifts. I lead her to the back of our store (that’s where all of our baby/toddler/kids clothes are) and tell her “Our sales and final sale items are also an additional 40% off today!” She thanks me, and then proceeds to look around while I go back up front to the register. After a couple of minutes, she brings up these two dresses. As I’m ringing the items, I tell her “These are final sales items. Once purchased, these cannot be returned or exchanged. Is that alright?” She says yes, and then asks me to print out gift receipts for both items. I tell her that I can’t do that because whoever is receiving these dresses won’t be able to return them anyways. She asks me again if I’ll print them out, and once again I explain how final sale items can’t be returned or exchanged. After a few more minutes of her arguing and yelling at me, I just tell her that our printer ran out of paper after her sale receipt generated. Luckily for me, she was so fed up at that point that she just took her items and left.
Seriously? You’d think that the ‘final sale’ tag would be a big enough hint that once you buy it, YOU CAN’T BRING IT BACK.
